Trip Overview
Now you can discover Nam Ha National Park by hike through mountains of the jungle forest, explore nature and wild lifestyle, overnight in the bamboo jungle camp, enjoy traditional local food prepared with selected forest spices (bamboo cooking), fishing on the Nam Ha river and explore Khmu traditional culture of Ban Nalan.
Itinerary
Day 1: Luang Namtha-Ban Nam Ha- Jungle Bamboo Camp.  Approx. 4-5 hours.
Start from our office by Tuk Tuk around 30 minutes to Ban Nam Ha, to be joined by a local Khmu Nam Ha NPA guide. The first day’s pace is moderate though the Nam Ha NPA where the guide’s knowledge of edible and medicinal plants will be demonstrated... You will be hiking uphill to see several massive old trees, many types of bamboo and divers forest plants. If you travel quietly you may see some wild animals such as monkeys, wild goats and wild pigs. Later, you will trek to the Ban Nalan area and have a traditional lunch with the guides in the area; the villages setup your camp, where you should arrive around 4:30 pm and overnight alongside the Nam Ha River. Besides resting, you are free to go fishing for dinner with your Khmu guide or stroll around the camp or opt for a refreshing swim in the Nam Ha River alongside your camp.
Day 2: Jungle Bamboo Camp –Ban Nalan-Nam Ha NPA-Luang Namtha. Approx. 4-5 hours
In the early morning you are likely to hear many kinds of animals communicating such as bear, monkey, barking dear, gibbon, wild pigs and jungle fowl from the higher mountain tops or if you are especially fortunate you may see them moving through the forest. Before breakfast, early risers are free to take a walk around the camp. After breakfast prepared by our guide, you cross the Nam Ha River and walk through field visit Ban Nalan explore the Khmu culture, next hike uphill through forest. Lunch will be prepared in the traditional way along the forest path. The guides can boil water and make soup in bamboo cooking vessels. They will encourage you to take part in the preparation of the meal, showing you how to construct simple spoons and chopsticks from bamboo and leaves. They will also brew a medicinal tea from wild plants collected along the way. After lunch, you will have an easy two hour hike down the mountain slope until you arrive at the Ban Chalernsouk, where your driver will be waiting to transport you back to Luang Namtha.

Prices include:

Bring a small backpack which should contain following items:
  • Shoes; a good pair of running shoes are perfect, or even better are the lightweight trekking boots.
  • 2 T-shirts (cotton), one short or long pant.
  • 2 pair of socks. Sandals, flip-flop (for the evening in village).
  • Towel (or sarong), swimming suits, toilet and personal effects.
  • Personal prescription drugs, contact lenses, glasses.
  • Sun-cream (waterproof), hat, sunglasses. Mosquito repellent.
  • 1 long sleeves sweater and pants, or jogging suits.
  • Small flashlight, camera and films.
Trekking
Participants must be aware that there are no western-style toilets and washing facilities. Sleeping is on a bamboo or wood floor, dormitory style. Sleeping bags, foam mats & mosquito nets are supplied.

Trekking itinerary is a basic guideline only & subject to change.
All trekking are supervised by Luang Namtha Provincial of Information, Culture & Tourism Department (PICTD), Laos Community Based Tourism (Laos-CBT) & Phou Iu Travel-Eco-tours which means all areas are frequented by tourists.
